LIGHTED HOOD EXTRACT (LHX)
with High Volume Gradient Suction Slots

SECTION I. GENERAL DESCRIPTION

A contractor shall furnish and install the AAF Lighted Hoods (LHX) Hood with integral high intensity lighting and gradient slot design per plan. Each unit shall consist of aluminum gradient spread slot capture baffle, (4) fluorescent bulbs, receptacle fixtures, ballast junction and conduit, two slide out lenses, aluminum transition plenum and 14 dia. intake collar.

SECTION II. DESIGN AND SIZE

The aluminum hood shall be of gradient slot design (assures uniform capture across entire hood area). A wide shouldered aluminum plenum shall promote inbound air flow distribution and minimize hood restriction loss. Integral 115 VAC fluorescent lighting shall be installed recessed into the baffle on either side of the gradient slots. Lighting lenses will be slide guide mounted, flush with the baffle surface (avoids air flow contour interference). The baffle flange shall be surrounded with a formed lip for hand positioning of the hood. Hoods shall be available in three sizes.

SECTION III. HOOD LIGHT CONTROLS AND FITTINGS.

All components, connectors strain relief grommets, conduit, wiring and ballast shall be ETL/CSA recognized components. The operation of the light may be controlled at the hood or motor blower module. Mechanical fasteners attach the baffle to the plenum for interior access.

SECTION IV. TEST

A. Hood inspection shall include physical inspection of tig welds on collar and seams, bulb seating and installation.

C. Check that light lenses are in place and guides
fastened.

SECTION V. OWNERS MANUAL

Instructions for installation, use and maintenance of the (LHX) Hoods shall be contained in a manual provided.

A wiring diagram corresponding to the LHX Hood shall be included in the manual.

SECTION VI. WARRANTY

The hoods shall have a 1 year (12 months) material and workmanship warranty. All other components are covered by a one year manufacturers (12 month) warranty.
