SECTION I. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Contractor shall furnish and install the self-contained AAF-MDX Movable Ductwork Extractor per plans. The unit shall be the AAF-MDX as supplied by AAF International of Louisville, Kentucky, USA, or approved equal.
The unit shall consist of one AAF-OSS with cylindrical filtration module, motor blower module, and an on/off control, counterweight base, bolted upright, bearing support bracket, large diameter sealed grease-able bearing, 14” dia. flanged welded steel duct boom, adjustable position, ball swivel, and large Lighted Hood (LHX) with high intensity lighting. Extractor, hoods and bearing shall be completely factory assembled. Base, upright and boom shall be field assembled.
SECTION II. EXTRACTOR CAPACITY RATING
The capacity of each unit at nominal rating shall be to produce continuously at least 3500 actual cubic feet per minute of airflow. Free air delivery with a new cartridge shall be at least 4800 cubic feet per minute of airflow. The fan wheel is a 15” airfoil, backward inclined non-overloading high efficiency spark resistant type. The fan wheel must be constructed and tested to AMCA section 210-211 standard.
The motor shall be: 5 HP, 3450 RPM, 208v/13.2A, 230v/12.2A, 460v/6.1A, 575v/5.8A, 3 Phase, 60HZ. Primary filter cartridge: pleated composite cellulose, at least 400 square feet of media, 99.9% efficient at .3 micron particulate size.
SECTION III. EXTRACTOR SIZE AND DESIGN
Extractor shall be of downflow design with filter, inlet cone, fan and motor aligned vertically in the same plane. Total extractor dimensions are not to exceed 40” length, 26” width, and 67” height. The top mounted 14” diameter intake and cyclonic separator is designed to extinguish sparks and distribute airflow

evenly across the filtration media. A vertically centered threaded rod and locking nut provide gasket compression on the filter element. The extractor will have a minimum of 25 sq. feet of 1” thick class one acoustical lining.
SECTION IV. THE BASE, UPRIGHT SUPPORT, BEARING, HOOD DESIGN AND SIZE.
The base shall support the extractor, upright, nipple, bearing, bracket, duct boom and hood. Leveling bolts beneath the base will provide clearance from four sides allowing access with a pallet jack or fork lift tines for movement of the unit.
The base shall be made of 2” thick mild steel 53”L x32”W giving ballast and strength to the entire MDX assembly. An 8’x6”x6” steel tube upright shall be bolted to the “toe” of the base. The upright shall support the nipple, bearing bracket, ring bearing assembly, duct boom, tilting ball swivel and hood. A retractable 14” dia. aluminum sleeve/duct shall connect the nipple with the top intake of the extractor. The duct boom shall be 14” dia. welded steel pipe, and when mounted to the bearing will swing 360 degrees.
The large Lighted Hood (LHX) shall also swivel 270 degrees and tilt right or left at least 30 degrees. Overall AAF-MDX dimensions are 135”H x170”L base heel to long end of hood.
SECTION V. OWNER’S MANUAL
Instructions for installation, operation and maintenance of the extractor shall be contained in a manual provided with each unit. A wiring diagram corresponding to the extractor shall be included in the Owner’s Manual. Field assembly instructions for the upright, boom, ball swivel, GSL Hood and light connection shall be included with each unit.
SECTION VIII. WARRANTY
The extractor shall have a one year ( 12 month) material and workmanship warranty. All other components are covered by a one year manufacturer’s warranty.
