Nuclear Grade VariCels are a series of medium and high efficiency rigid cell side disposable filters for removal of atmospheric dust and particulates from nuclear power plant air streams. These filters have low initial resistance, high dust holding capacity, and a choice of three efficiency ranges. These filters are designed for use as prefilters to extend the life of AAF AstroCel HEPA filters or as separate duct or line mounted units where HEPA efficiency is not required.
VariCel Construction Features:
- Galvanized Steel Cell Sides with media retaining flanges and 3/4" flanged header. VariCels may be specified for either upstream or downstream service.
- Supported Rigid Media Pack - Up to 125 sq. ft. of pleated media surface area. Maximum surface area provides savings in operating costs.
- Horizontal Brace - Steel bracing on the downstream face provides added protection against rough handling and airflow.
- Media Separators of crimped aluminum
- Glass Packing Sealant for media behind retaining flanges, absorbs shock yielding to motion yet maintaining positive seal. Eliminates shearing of media common with glued construction.
- UL Rated Class 1 Fire Resistant - Listed by Underwriters laboratory - UL 900.
- Three Efficiency ranges - Superfine spun glass fiber pleated media. 60-65%, 80-85%, 90-95% efficiency per ASHRAE 52.
- Air Flow: 500 fpm face velocity - 2000 cfm for a 24" x 24" x 11 1/2" size (nominal).
- Unaffected by variable air volume - well suited to variable volume systems.
- Other sizes and construction available.
- Meets 10CFR50 Appendix B, ASME N509, ASME AG-1, ASME NQA-1, UL900 Class 1, 10CFR21
