Mining

Mining may involve surface working and/or underground mining. There are many processes which potentially give rise to airborne dust - varying from nuisance value to potentially life threatening. Dust is generated at every stage of production, from working at the rock face to despatching the finished product. Compounding the challenge, operators are often faced with extreme process temperatures, dry and wet processes, and any number of variables based on local conditions and the specific mineral being worked. AAF has applied many of its fundamental air pollution control technologies to these problems and has created specialised equipment and systems to meet the unique needs of this industry. AAF has a full range of products available, plus the expertise to help find the best solution for each pollution problem. The versatile compact wet scrubber - RotoClone W - has even been deployed in underground operations, made possible by its inherent safety and its compact dimensions. On the surface its big brother – the RotoClone N – is employed for rail / road loading applications as mined product is readied for despatch. AAF FabriPulse bag filters have also been used where high-speed, high-capacity belt conveyors bring large quantities rapidly to the surface in drift mines – arriving in a crash box that needs substantial ventilation via a filter. Surface crushing and segregation are also served with AAF wet scrubbers or pulse jet filters according to the application requirements.
