Metalizing

Metallising, also known as thermal spraying or plasma spraying, is a process whereby molten or semi-molten coating material is projected towards a substrate and deposited on the surface to form a coating, enhancing the substrate’s properties. Coating materials can include pure metals, alloys and ceramics among others and can be delivered in a powder, wire or ceramic rod form. The process generates fumes with particles often smaller than one micron in diameter, subject to the process and materials used. Because of this, fume collection can be a challenge in a wide range of metalworking industries. AAF regularly supplies the OptiFlo RC pulse jet cartridge filter to safely capture the fumes generated during metallising processes.
