Commercial glass is manufactured from materials that are crushed, weighed, mixed and melted to produce flat glass, container glass, pressed glass and blown glass. Glass manufacture can prove to be a challenging application for dust collection. This is because any moisture can turn components such as soda ash, which is hygroscopic, and silica into a cement-like cake on the filter bags making it ineffective. AAF has gained invaluable experience in many different industries, often on very challenging applications, and is aware of the special difficulties presented in such circumstances. AAF is therefore able to offer solutions designed to cope with adverse conditions. AAF is also aware of the glass-specific requirements for certain processes – for example the absolute need to prevent iron contamination of raw feed into glass furnaces.
