June 30, 2008

AAF International, manufacturer of American Air Filter® and AAF® products, and a world-leader in providing clean air solutions, is proud to announce it is now a U. S. Green Building Council (USGBC) member.

The USGBC is the organization responsible for developing Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) initiative. LEED Green Building Rating System™, encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria. This membership illustrates the AAF commitment to providing clean air, reducing energy consumption, and advocating responsible corporate citizenship. “As a member of the Daikin Group, our corporate mission is to create and provide products and services that contribute to the conservation of the global environment by capitalizing on our vast experience and capabilities,” said Brian Thompson, Vice President of Global Marketing, in his announcement to the AAF International Marketing and Sales Teams. “In recognition of this goal, we are delighted to become a member of the USGBC and look forward to playing our part in fully supporting the LEED initiatives.”

For more than 85 years, American Air Filter has led the air filtration industry in protecting the environment and providing cutting edge solutions to help manage air pollution issues. “In more recent years, as greater attention has focused on global warming and the effects of Green House Gases (GHG) to our climate, we have continued the legacy in accelerating the development of air filter products with energy savings, superior performance yet reduced ownership costs in mind,” said Thompson. Today, AAF offers an unparalleled product line offering the industry’s lowest life cycle costs and High Efficiency Pleated Filters rated MERV 13 and above that meet efficiency requirements established for LEED Project Certification.

The USGBC is a non-profit organization committed to expanding sustainable building practices. Composed of more than 15,000 organizations from across the building industry, USGBC and its members are working to advance structures that are environmentally responsible, profitable, and healthy places to live and work. Members include building owners and end-users, real estate developers, facility managers, architects, designers, engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, product and building system manufacturers, government agencies, and nonprofits.
